    In The Spirit
    Of Merdeka..

some video's to remind us we're Malaysian after all.. no matter how much we love 50 Cent.. no matter howr much Nike' we wear.. no matter how much McDonalds we chomp down..
We always have our differences.. of course in the real world we would like to be as close to what the commercials portray.. but hey, prejudices, insecurities, and stereotypes aside.. we try.. and man.. what would we be without Nasi Lemak.. without Char Koay Teow... without Banana Leaf Rice.. without Chicken Tikka.. think about it..

Eh itu dia potong, dia kasi balik ka..? fuckin' hillarious..

Whats a commercial without a Bai..check it out..

Not Merdeka themed.. but yea deep down its who we are that really matters..

    Bloody hungry
Im thin, dont rub it in...

oh damn.. im so fucking hungry... my mom's trying to whoop up something in the kitchen.. another hour or so till she's done i presume.. i feel like having a Fillet-o-Fish.. yea i know i dont take seafood.. but i used to enjoy seafood when i was younger.. now stuff like Fillet-o-fish and fish & chips are alright.. but seriously i want a Fillet-o-Fish with an apple pie now..
ever since i had one last sunday..after a very long time.. im kinda like craving it now.. actually the Fillet-o-Fish was accompanied by a Big Mac and an apple pie.. *tummy growls* thinking bout it now is making me go crazy with hunger..

safe to say my appetite is back.. and hopefully i'll be putting on weight now.. *fingers crossed*.... most people who see my after sometime are surprised at how much weight i've lost... bumped into a friend from primary & high school, while having dinner with my dad at Bonda.. the dude was like.. what happened, you're so thin.. i wanted to say i was a druggie.. but then i didnt wanna shock him too much...
the other day at the Adidas shop.. the lady boss, who hadn't seen me for ages.. and she still reconised me.. caught me by surprise.. she was like wah! you've gone so thin now.. i didnt realise she was talking to me.. she kept repeating herself a couple of times.. then i looked at her and pointed at myself.. she was like yea you.. gone so thin now.. its not that i wanna be thin la.. i cant put on weight.. i drop weight very quickly.. especially after i got sick recently.. i dropped even more pounds and i've been having a lame ass appetite.. its very difficult to put on the pounds.. people always remark that im the smallest Punjabi around.. fuckers..!

Continued with Kitchen Confidential before bed the other night.. im reading it slowly but not steadily.. its like i dont want it to end.. Tony is a genius and its everything i can totally relate to being in the hotel and service industry, albeit not directly in the kitchen.. his experiences are so true some and it just cracks you up thinking oh fuck! i had a perverted joker just like that at the hotel before.. some stuff why i love this book so much...

The expediter, a just-off-the-boat Italian with an indecipherably thick accent drooned away constantly in an uninflected monotone through a microphone, calling out presumable orders and pick-ups. I can still hear him: 'Pickinguppa, one-ah vealuh orloffah...and three sole Balmoralla. Orderingah, twenty-three beef Wellingtonna and seventeena chicka for the Belvedera Suite...orderinga three crespelle toscana seg way...two a steaka one a mediuma rare one-a mediuma.'

The athmosphere was very jailhouse, with lots of grab-ass, heated argument, hypermacho posturing and drunken ranting. Two burly men who'd just as soon kill you as look at you, when talking to each other, would often nestle a hand tenderly next to the testicles of the other, as if to say, 'I am so not gay - I can even do this!'

The common language was a mix of Nueva Yorkeno Spanish, Italian and pidgin English. When speaking English, one had to conform to the style book: one didn't say, 'Thats my knife.' One said instead, 'Is for me, the knife.'

Juan, the sixtyish day broiler man, a fierce, trash talking Basque who, i swear,
i saw one time sewing up a very bad knife wound on his hand - right on the line - with a sewing needle and thread, muttering all the while, as he pushed through the flaps of skin with the point, 'I am a tough (skronk!)... mother fucker (skronk!). I am a tough son of beetch! (skronk!). I am a tough... mother (skronk!)... fucker'

An aged ex-Wehrmacht corporal with a dyed red hair and moustache who loved to regale me with stories of Weimar era perversions: 'Zey vould feed ze girls bananas,' he said once, leering and winking as he described a purported club for coprophiles. 'Hitler and Goering... yah, Goering, zey would go these places.'

Gianni the pastry chef was a skilled raconteur. Though married he was relentless in his pursuit of every woman in the restaurant - most of them looked like whichever was the uglier of Cagney and Lacey. He was always befuddled when one of them would resist his affections: 'So i saya to thees girl, "I bring you out to nice dinner which i pay... and I drive you in nice car - a Buick... and you no wanna fuck me?" I don't unnerstan!'

    Sweet...!

    Freaky VW
    Dreams...

woah.. i've been having freakin weirdo dreams this past couple of nights... i dont know whats up with 'em dreams but its actually rather freaky... cause i dont know what to make of it...

it was late at night.. parked my Beetle by the side of a road.. there was a huge empty field across the road... the sky was dark and eerie with only the moon visible.. there were this row of what looked like abandoned shop houses... no one else was around... it was Singapore apparently.. some real dodgy part of Singapore.. someone else was with me.. i cant recall who.. we walked towards to rear of the shop houses.. i dont know where we went.. when we returned, it was still eerie and chilly and dark and quiet... i couldnt believe what i saw.. May was jacked up on bricks on all sides and all 4 of her wheels were missing... stolen..! who would do something so mean.. in Singapore..?!

I was on a raft... on vacation with some weirdo family.. not mine.. i dont know how i ended up with them.... it was a huge raft made from bamboo and stuff... we had a guide and a dude manoeuvring the raft... we're heading to a island resort.. i think it was in Australia.. or somewhere in the Caribbean.. one thing lead to another.. and all i remember is coming back from the resort island on the same raft with the same folks but this time i had a VW Beetle coming back with me.... i was happy beyond words.. i think the Beetle was a gift or something... it was a '72 1302...and it was purple.. light purple..! exactly like the one used by Roxy (Mary-Kate Olsen) in New York Minute..!

    Kopitiam VS
    Starbucks...
    and then Bonda

4 missed calls..it was George Michael Is... inviting me out for lunch.. i'd just had lunch.. but i teman'd him anyway... Is wanted to check out Bonda.. i took him to Bonda one fine sunday night but unfortunately it was closed.. so we met up at Bonda, and they had just closed.. i was like wtf man..! apparently they close during tea time-ish and reopen for dinner..

We headed off to Ipoh Parade... this new kopitiam outlet had just open.. Kopitiam Junction... its like the biggest in thing now.. kopitiam's are popping up every freakin where..
The Kopitiam Junction is located smack opposite Starbucks.. direct muthafreakin competition man.. Starbucks just opened bout a month ago and now boom!... the Kopitiam Junction is gonna dent Starbucks' sales to the max... the purist' will still go to Starbucks for gourmet coffee and cakes and pastries... but how many people here actually bother or know the difference of gourmet coffee.. sad but true... most people just wanna hang out.. chit chat etc.. obviously choice man.. the kopitiam...
besides having an asian menu.. being way way way cheaper.. the Kopitiam Junction also occupies more square feet and has a huge alfresco sitting area compared to Starbucks...
oh! the best part is the Kopitiam Junction sells beer!!! awesome man... and its reasonable! Heine' for RM 7.50.... :D

It has on open kitchen concept.... which seemed really unorganised.... looked like there were way too many staff in the kitchen....

Deco wise... the standard new school meet old school... as the norm with every new kopitiam... ambience wise... very noisy.. very crowded... also the norm with kopitiams....

You gotta mark down your own orders... and pass it to the floor staff... we hadta wait like 10 minutes for someone to finally attend to us.... service is pathetic... i only saw like 3 floor staff... whats everyone doing in the kitchen?! *click for better view*

Iced Hazelnut White Coffee.... RM2 including 5% GST.... tell me thats aint freakin cheap! and it taste' real good... they dont stinge on the hazelnut syrup...

Is had curry chicken with dried noodles... looked good... had an appetizing aroma... According to Is, it tasted pretty good...

BUT.... look at that piece of chicken... besides looking like a giant chicken ass... it wasnt cleaned properly... it still had some feather attachments....! real appetite killer man....

Starbucks Coffee.. Brewing Now.. The first and only Starbucks in Ipoh... woot! go Ipoh!

Very small bar area... compared to the one we had in CBTL.... but CBTL looks very dated compared to this...

    Indoor seating area very limited...

Alfresco seating area very comfy... nice greenery... ample mist fans.... the best part are the chairs...! very very very comfy...!

Starbucks Ipoh doesnt have a gourmet counter... their sandwich selection is very limited and they rely solely on whats sent from the warehouse... i wanted their Turkey Ham and Cheese Panini... but they only had Chicken and Mushroom Panini...! no choice... i was hungry... but it didnt disappoint... the portion was HUGE... it was fresh... the chicken cubes and shitake mushrooms were yummy... Starbucks claims it takes 3 minutes to grill a sandwich... but it took about 10 minutes to arrive..!

We went for a massage after lunch.... it was at a reflexology centre.... legit', clean place... mind you! not some doggy massage centre that doubles up as a prostitution den... i wasnt interested in gettin messaged but Is said it was on him.. so what the hell..
i got a dude from china... he made me change into shorts... i was already wearing shorts... i didnt see the point cause i was only getting an upper body massage.... dude hardly spoke English/Malay and he insisted! they looked more like boxers actually... oversized and loose! i dont know if the message did me any good... cause parts of my back and shoulder hurt now..! dude said i got a very bad back.. that i know already... he was like very disappointed with my back and trying to explain to me mostly with sign language and a sprinkle of England English.... i just smiled and kept saying "yes" and "uh huh" "yes very bad"....
Dude did that Chinese cupping thingy on my back... those things really suck your skin and weigh down you back man... when i got home i noticed i had fucking read round marks on by back... and they hurt...! chebai.. wonder how long till they disappear...

after getting massaged... we went back to Bonda.. this time fortunately they were open.. Bonda claims to be a restaurant & cafe... specializing in home styled Malay and Western cuisine... Bonda literally means Mother in old school Malay... Bonda in Punjabi though means "ass"... but moving on!
I like Bonda cause of its ambience... its chillaxed and has that very old school home-y feel to it... The last time i was there..i tired their spaghetti bolognaise... and it wasnt bad... their fried rice selection is pretty good i've been told... i didnt feel like having rice for dinner... Is opted for their BBQ lamb... sounded pretty sweet... so i ordered the same thing... The lamb was a serious let down.. just too much fat..! and it was covered with black pepper sauce..! hai! sakit hati...
There was only one staff on the floor.. so you can expect what service was like.. fortunately for that guy, the turnover wasnt high... first time i was given a stained knife... second knife i got was stained as well...! when i wanted to settle the bill RM 24.50... the cashier didnt have change for 50...! like omfg wtf man! I didnt have smalls thus Is ended up paying... dude, i owe you a meal next time we meet up.....

    The story of Bonda....

    Sea Coconut... very delicious... refreshing...

    Fatty Lamb....

Wish i could have given Bonda a better review... cause i really like that place.. the ambience atleast... i'd say if you just wanna a quite place to hang out and chit chat have a couple of non alcoholic beverages... Bonda would be a great place... otherwise go somewhere else...

    Gol & Gincu /
    F.F.M-19 Ramblings...

    what up wankers..

any of y'all been following Gol & Gince the series..? besides Lainie.. Hello...! anyone else? if you havent i'd say you should but then it's a lil too late for that.. next week is the final episode of the season... if im not mistaken..
i really hope there's a season 2... and soon..! as the norm with English-Malay serials.. they just tend to disappear after one season...
remember Getting Together?.. the one with Elaine Daly and Ako Mustafa... missing after one season.. i really liked that one, to tell you the truth.. KL Lights..? might reappear with season 2 once G&G is over... but KL Lights is OK-OK only.. it could be better, its like a lil lembab.. but thinking bout Daphne Iking.. Hot factor.. so yea its cool.. bring back KL Lights then while we wait for season 2 of G&G...

back to G&G then.. i missed last weeks episode.. i dont know what actually went down.. besides Putri getting proposed... im still dumbfucked as to why she (Putri) is so chillax'd bout finding out that "uncle" Marwan's her actual father.. ha! the part where he was locked up with the kambings was fucking hilarious..!
Shanon Shah made a guest appearence today... every time there was a scene involving Shanon i'd laugh myself silly... he was like so skema man... and every time he spoke.. i mean, the dude's an awesome singer... im one of his biggest fans.. but everytime he speaks its like so soft... its plain hilarious man... and Shanon, dude i STILL cant find your cd..!
Today's episode ended with Putri discovering Eddy's affair.. phheew! Putri getting married.. what fun would that be?

Watched the FFM ke 19 today... 19th Malaysian Film Festival... i wanted to watch for myself what the whole who-ha was about... i personally feel the whole event was a disgrace.. and im not sorry for that... its awesome rewarding and recognising good films and talents but whoever planned and coordinated the event.. what a shame man.. apa kelas... it was so kelam kabut and LAME...! dad was like i dont know why you're even watching it.. for only one reason..
i felt there was nothing wrong with what Armani said... she did well in two good films.. props to her..!
if you biggots.. orang-orang yang lebih berpengalaman cant accept a multiracial story in a multiracial country, please do us generasi muda yang kurang berpengalaman a favour by hiding under your tempurung and killing yourself.. insecure hypocrites...!
Dad said Rais is lalok.. mentally off.. i second that..
Yasmin Ahmad.. keep strong and please keep making more multiracial films that cemar budaya.. as opposed to stuff like Remp-it which doesnt seem to cemar budaya Melayu.. hell, it might even win film of the year...!

what that old fuck was commenting about Ida Nerina and her body was plain disgusting.. if i was Ida i'd kick him down and stab his larynx with my stilettos.. but then again who are we to say.. after all the old fuck is part of the orang orang yang lebih berpengalaman.. they ought to know better... what a shame!

besides the two deserving wins... one of my favourites... SAZZY FALAK... Hot factor.. won the Pelakon Pembantu Wanita Terbaik... best female co-actress? she was like ohmygodamidreaming kinda shocked... no doubt she deserves it.. for being the bitchy one in Gol & Gincu the movie.. :) she's not all that bitchy now.. she faught defending Putri in one episode... garang, sial..

its 2 freakin a.m... i dont feel like sleeping... must be the craptastic latte i had earlier or the nap i had before G&G... what to do.. what to do.. ha! just discovered that one toe has longer hair than the others... scissors!

    Lou Wong Ipoh
    Bean Sprout' Chicken

was reading bout steamed chicken and beansprouts at Gina's sometime back... and i was like dude its bean sprout chicken from the original Lou Wong or nothing at all, mate! no offence.... but this place comes second to none... second to none, baby...!

Lou Wong Bean Sprout' Chicken Restaurant.... located along Yau Tet Shin Street / Osbourne Street.... THE best in Ipoh... and i suppose the best in Malaysia.. since ya know Ipoh is home to the best Bean sprout' Chicken...
i really like this place... its simple... it's has an ample alfresco dining area, which i totally love.. there is an indoor dining area though but hardly anyone utilises it... besides the food being AWESOME... the service is great as well... the staff are aplenty, attentive, and best of all very prompt.. place your order and in a matter of minutes they start appearing on your table... its really fast, no matter during peak or off peak periods!
weird thing bout these kinda restaurants, they only serve a handfull of drinks... namely iced lime juice (not lemonade), iced chinese herbal tea (very good), iced sugarcane juice, iced "mata kucing" (cats eye?.. nay its actually made from, loh hon guo (buddha fruit), dried longan, winter melon, brown sugar and water) and the customary tiger or carlsberg.... but yea, you cant really complain, cause these drinks are really cooling and light and they go damn well with the bean sprout' chicken...

Chicken... poached to perfection.... boneless and fat free... you can opt for meat on the bone if you prefer.... its easier to eat without the bone... or i could just be lazy.... the chicken is topped off with some special soya gravy (soya sauce and sesame oil) with spring onions and some chopped red chillies... mouth wateringly tender to say the least....!

The famous Ipoh bean sprouts... seriously there's nothin' special bout bean sprouts to shout about... but apparently Ipoh has the best bean sprouts around.. it being fatter, shorter and simply just tastier or something like that..and that Ipoh bean sprouts are exported to other parts or the country, etc etc... but in my book bean sprouts are still nothin i'd bother about.... but when these bean sprouts are mixed with the poached chicken it makes a whole lot of sense... the bean sprouts are very firm al dente... they absorb all the flavours of the soya gravy and add that extra crunch to the meal.... *dont mind my dad's hairy fingers*

Most people have their bean spouts and chicken with white rice.. some just have the bean sprouts and chicken.... i always opt for mee and bee-hon kwanloo... (yellow noodles and rice vermicelli tossed with soya sauce)

and to top it all off.... you gotta have some optional pork meat balls... these meat balls are fantastic... they are firm but yet are able to absorb all the necessary juices... ei: soya sauce and gravy...

a meal like this would cost you about RM 15 to slightly below RM20 including beverages for 2 persons... pretty good value.... it used to be way cheaper back in the day, but ya gotta remember Ipoh's bean sprout' chicken is very commercialised now but its still worth every Ringgit! next time you're in Ipoh... make sure you give it a try, if you havent already...

    Why did the dumbass chicken
    cross the muthafriggin road.....?

What The Experts Had To Say...

    Kindergarten teacher:
Because it wanted to get to the other side.

    Aristotle:
It is the nature of chickens to cross roads.

    Richard M. Nixon:
The chicken did not cross the road. I repeat, the chicken did NOT cross the road.

    Bill Gates:
I have just released the new Chicken Office 2000, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your checkbook.

    Colonel Sanders (KFC):
    I missed one?

    Bill Clinton:
I've had so many chicks, I can't remember...

    Dr M:
You know, I am tired of all this...'apa-nama' chicken-chicken business...the foreign powers should stop intervening in our domestic affairs and just leave our chickens alone.. If they want to... 'apa nama' cross the road, they should be allowed to cross the road... Malaysia is a democratic country; we let our chickens do whatever they want to do... as long as they don't threaten the Malay unity and try to topple the government...and if they plan to do so... we won't hesitate to use the ISA...

    Pak Lah:

    Wan Kamarudin (Edisi Siasat NTV7):
Ape kejadahnyer ini semua, KL dah jadik reban ayam, mak bapak ayam asyik menganga saje.

Zainal Ariffin Ismail (Misteri Nusantara TV3):
